Puglia, the heel of Italy’s boot, offers a captivating blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. Known for its stunning coastline, charming towns, and culinary delights, Puglia promises an authentic Italian experience. The region’s Mediterranean shores boast dramatic cliffs, hidden coves, and beautiful beaches, while the countryside is dotted with ancient olive groves and vineyards that produce some of Italy’s finest wines and olive oil. For food lovers, Puglia is paradise. Its cuisine is rooted in simple, fresh ingredients that reflect the bounty of the land and sea. From orecchiette pasta to freshly caught seafood, and the famous burrata cheese, every meal in Puglia is a celebration of local flavors. The region’s warm hospitality and slow-paced lifestyle has you savor every moment.
As a group we will spend our time in Puglia exploring the many towns, and beaches. Throughout the trip we will cater the perfect blend of relaxation, food, adventure, and nightlife to make the ultimate authentic experience. Overnight stays, boat trips, and some transportation will be included in the cost. The tour will start and end in Bari. Total cost will be provided by august 2025.
Itinerary
Day 1 – Bari
Arrive by train or plane to Bari, the capital of the Puglia region, known for its busy port, historic architecture, and vibrant street life. Here we will meet up with the group and spend the day relaxing and exploring Bari’s charm. Bari is famous for its narrow, winding streets, picturesque courtyards, and historic landmarks like the Basilica of San Nicola. While in Bari, we will try some typical food like “Focaccia Barese” and octopus.

Day 2 – Matera
After a leisurely breakfast we will take a day trip from Bari into the region of Basilicata to visit the historic city of Matera, the oldest city in Europe. Matera is known for its houses carved into the mountain. This ancient city dates back to the Paleolithic era and is a labyrinth of stone-carved houses, churches, and underground cisterns. We will explore the winding streets of this UNESCO World Heritage Site and eat some great local food.

Day 3 – Monopoli
Day 4 – Polignano
Today, we’ll hop on a quick train to the nearby town of Polignano a Mare, famous for its dramatic cliffs and breathtaking views of the Adriatic Sea. Polignano is a very scenic town, with whitewashed buildings perched on cliffs above the water. We will spend the day exploring the charming streets, snorkeling in the clear blue waters, and jumping from the iconic white cliffs. In the evening, we’ll return to Monopoli for a nice dinner featuring local seafood specialties.

Day 5 – Lecce
Today, we will arrive in Lecce, referred to as the “Florence of the South” for its rich Baroque architecture and artistic heritage. Lecce will be our home base for the next 4 days. The old part of town is packed with stunning buildings and winding old streets. The region has a long history of cultural blending, having been influenced by Greeks, Romans, and Normans over the centuries. We will spend the day getting familiar with the area and trying many local foods like horse meat and the famous “pasticiotti.”

Day 6 – Salento
We’ll take a day trip from Lecce to Ponte Ciolo, a stunning spot on the coast famous for its rugged cliffs and turquoise waters. Here, we’ll spend the day swimming in the crystal-clear sea and sending some cliff jumps. The area is renowned for its dramatic landscapes, where steep cliffs meet the water. We’ll also hike along the scenic coastline to discover hidden caves. This is a perfect spot for a day full of mediterranean adventure.
Day 7 – Boat
Today, we’ll set sail for a day out on the water with a relaxing boat trip along the Salento coastline. We’ll have the chance to explore the area’s many fascinating sea caves with their mesmerizing rock formations and crystal-clear waters. Food and drink will be provided on board, allowing us to enjoy delicious local flavors while soaking up the sun. Whether you prefer lounging on the deck, taking a dip in the refreshing water, or simply admiring the coastline’s beauty, this day promises to be a perfect blend of relaxation and fun.

Day 8 – Otranto
On Day 8, we’ll head to Otranto, another coastal town known for its rich history and inviting beaches. We’ll start the day by enjoying some beach time on the town’s beautiful shores, where the clear waters and soft sands create the perfect spot for relaxation. After soaking up the sun, we’ll explore Otranto’s old town, wandering through narrow streets lined with charming whitewashed buildings. Throughout the day, we’ll indulge in delicious local cuisine, with dishes like “frutti di mare” and more. We will head back to Lecce for our final night where we will have a fancy last dinner.

Day 9 – Gallipoli
From Lecce, we’ll head further south into the Salento region of Puglia, arriving at the stunning beach town of Gallipoli. Here, we will unwind on the pristine Salento shores, enjoying the turquoise waters and soft sandy beaches. After a relaxing beach day we will have the chance to explore the city’s vibrant nightlife.
Day 10 – Gallipoli
Today, we’ll explore the center of Gallipoli, situated on a small fortress island connected to the mainland by a bridge. This historic area is known for its maze of narrow streets, ancient buildings, and defensive walls that overlook the sea. After soaking in the charm of the island, we’ll continue our day by unwinding on Gallipoli’s beautiful beaches, enjoying the sun and the inviting mediterranean waters.

Day 11
Our last day we will head from Gallipoli to Lecce, where we will say our goodbyes and catch a final train to Bari/Rome.
